Damn people need to learn how to stop for a red light. I was on the other side of the intersection. When I started to go I saw the old green Outback not slowing down for the red light. I stopped and blew my horn, but she didn’t even brake. The guys in the Volvo C70 (with their dog) didn’t even see her coming. They probably got T-boned at about 45. Luckily nobody seemed to be injured, my guess is due to the many safety features on the Volvo. I was quite shocked that nobody else stopped to render assistance. I immediately pulled off to the side and ran over to check on them, and to call 911. I ended up staying at the scene for about 15 mins to give a statement to an officer so that the guys in the Volvo wouldn’t be having too much trouble fighting with the red light runner’s insurance. Btw, the driver of the Outback seemed super stoned.

Good job stopping to assist. Having been the victim of a 55mph stop sign runner myself, I can tell you it’s comforting to have friendly immediately coming to help and know that professional help is on its way before disorientation wears off.

Yeah... Only thing is, she didn’t seem like a lesbian. The car had Maine tags, and she seemed kinda hippyish.

A stoned person cause an accident? Who’d have thunk it.

I don’t think they could have been doing 45 from the looks of it though. Crash tests are done at 40mph, and the cars come out looking a lot worse than that.

Super stoned driver in a green Subaru Outback? Huh, I don’t think *anyone* would ever suspect that. All jokes aside, it’s good to see that everyone is OK.

I honestly don’t care if people smoke or drink, as I may or may not have participated in those activities before, but just don’t get behind the wheel when you do. That’s just stupid.

Thanks for the kind words. I know for sure that if I were in this situation i’d hope that someone would stop to help. I was just thankful to see that everybody involved was conscious, and seemingly uninjured. Seeing it happen, almost in slow motion, I expected to see serious injuries. Thank god they were in a Volvo.

Couldn't agree with ya more. I can't 100% say that she was, however I am mostly certain. She kept asking if her light was red, and seemed really dazed.

This road is a 45 mph road and she didn’t even break. The drivers side of the Volvo looked nearly identical to the IIHS test C70. What's not pictured are the popped side curtain airbags and torso airbags in the C70.

Ugh. Well, to play devil’s advocate, she could be in shock. But I think we both know the truth...

The fact that she ran the light without even breaking, even when I honked makes me highly question her sobriety.

Yeah, I have a few friends that have been behind the wheel whilst properly stoney baloney, and they all say how scary is really is. The general concensus seems to be 1) too much is happening at once and 2) they cannot seem to maintain speed. Thankfully, nothing has happened to them, but they now know better. Apex/Fuquay-Varina goes hard.

I've done it once and would never again. Some people say it makes them better, but that's utter bullshit. You forgot to mention the paranoia factor btw.

I personally don’t get paranoid if I do/do not Do The Do, and I often forget that others do. A few people have mentioned it, though. But I know that I’ll never be driving while inebriated. It’s just not smart, and I think that’s something all of Oppo can agree on.

That could also be a symptom of getting your head smashed. I’m guessing a concussion.

Sadly it seems like nobody stops to help anyone anymore. Last time I stopped - just to help push a 3rd-gen Supra that stalled and was pouring out a cloud of coolant smoke on a busy road at rush hour - the driver seemed genuinely shocked someone cared. It's a shame. Good job taking a few minutes to help out.

For real! It was pretty amazing seeing the bag explode upwards out of the door, and then seem to stay inflated.

I guess you're right. I'm just wondering what lead her to run the light in the first place without even touching the brakes.

Thank you for doing your duty and stopping to render assistance.

Now you have seen that failing to use the BRAKES tends to BREAK stuff.

Sorry, but it had to be done. :)

Wow, outback, weed and red light running is the trifecta here. I moved from Chicago and don't get me wrong, traffic there is way worse but I was amazed at the red light running here. Every time, I feel guilty for speeding up for a yellow, I look in the rear view and there's 2 or 3 cars right behind. I was even rear ended the month after I got my Miata for stopping for a full red.

I saw a Ford f-250(I think, might’ve been a 350) upside down, facing the wrong way in the median of the highway yesterday. They were out and walking around, didn’t seem badly hurt luckily.
